Ecosomatics is the practice of deepening personal body awareness and extending that sensitivity into a relationship with the ecosystems we inhabit. Approaching the studio as an active, shared ecosystem, this class explores how ecological consciousness directly informs physical movement.
Through a blend of contemporary floorwork, somatic modalities (Pilates, Alexander Technique, functional movement, and yoga), and improvisation, the class is structured around three core movement phases:
ROOTING: Grounded floorwork and functional somatic conditioning focused on earth imagery, joint ease, alignment, and deep connection to the ground.
FLOWING: Fluid traveling phrasework driven by weight, momentum, and dynamic elemental relationships like air and water.
BEAMING: Energetic standing work and space-engaging movement that radiate outward into the room and surrounding environment.
Each session begins with a functional warm-up activating the body around the week's theme. The class concludes with technical phrasework or a guided improvisation to synthesize concepts and explore personal artistry. Open to all
