Clouds, the ethereal puffy cotton-ball like structures, are a scientific phenomenon that I have been intrigued by since I was a child. Their shape, quality, and beauty are three factors that sparked my inquiry “What can the body learn from the need and logic of a cloud? And in turn can this practice help achieve the psychological “flow” state? The process of cloud formations and the transition of one of the ten cloud types into the next serves as the score or sequence of the piece. From saturation, to the high, middle, low, and vertically developed clouds, to dissipation you will feel the atmospheric change, you will see the dancers invested in a deep meditative practice and expression, and hopefully you will leave with the knowledge that clouds have a physicality and even emotionality that is worth embodying yourself.
What can we learn from the need and logic of a cloud?
